Samis performed a complete renovation, including a seismic retrofit of the Washington Shoe Building in 2001. This project consisted of renovating floors 2 through 6 into over 60,000 feet of office space, while preserving the unique architectural attributes of this historic Pioneer Square building. The renovation included a complete seismic retrofit, adding modern-day life-safety features as well as all new mechanical, electrical and communications systems conducive to today’s business practices. Office tenants include Olson Kundig Architects and Zynga.

The Washington Shoe Building is located across from the Occidental Mall in Pioneer Square and experiences abundant foot traffic due to its proximity to public transportation, CenturyLink Field, Safeco Field and multiple restaurants and art galleries. Samis performed a complete renovation of the Collins Building, incorporating a new infrastructure and a complete seismic upgrade that complements the building’s original architecture. This renovation project preserved the building’s unique architectural attributes, while adding modern-day life-safety features and enhanced mechanical, electrical and communications systems. Office tenants include the law firm of Cairncross & Hempelmann. Their substantial improvements include hardwood floors, sealed brick masonry interiors and a roof deck. The ground-floor retail space is occupied by the Collins Pub, which is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
